About Pundi X
Pundi X started in 2017 with the vision of making crypto payments as easy as buying water. In 2018, it shipped the first batch of XPOS devices to over 25 countries, establishing a global merchant network. That year also saw the launch of the XPASS card and XWallet, bridging physical and digital crypto payments.
In 2019, Pundi X introduced Function X, a decentralized blockchain ecosystem, and the BOB smartphone, marking its shift from a payment app to a full-stack infrastructure provider. The 2021 token migration to PUNDIX and the launch of Pundi X Chain further solidified its own payment-focused blockchain.
In 2024, Pundi X integrated AI and stablecoins, including USDC and IDRX, into its payment solutions, while transitioning XPOS to a decentralized model. These milestones reflect its evolution from a hardware maker to a comprehensive Web3 payment and AI infrastructure platform.
Positive: In Q1 2026, the project advanced steadily, becoming a Day 1 partner of Stable Mainnet and expanding its AI ecosystem through multiple strategic collaborations. The Pundi X Chain, previously slated to shut down on March 1, was decided to remain operational after review, with the migration plan postponed and PUNDIX token unaffected.
Negative: The project canceled its token burn mechanism and shifted to validator staking, turning the token economy inflationary with potential dilution risk. The AI+payments track is crowded, and the market reacted negatively to the transformation, pushing prices near all-time lows. The June 27 rebound lacked news catalysts, with extreme volume/market cap ratios suggesting possible wash trading; the long-term bearish thesis remains unchanged.
Danny Lim (Co-founder): Financing and tokenomics expert. PhD Law scholar from Tsinghua University, holds ACMA and CGMA. Previously at Baidu and Lenovo.
Peko Wan (Co-CEO): Former VP and Head of Communications at Opera Software Asia. Led PR and marketing across Asia.
Zac Cheah (CEO): Co-founder. Erasmus Mundus scholar (M.Sc Computing from KTH, M.Sc Security from NTNU). Ex-Opera developer evangelist, W3C chair.
Indra Winarta (Chief Business Development Officer): Early employee since 2017. Ex-management consultant. Math and Computer Science graduate from Universitas Pelita Harapan.
